Shutter Styles
Our Range of Shutter Types and Styles
Bay Window Shutters
Whether it be rectangular 90 degree, splay 135 degree or a curved custom angled bay post design, we will make sure our Bay window shutters fit perfectly.
Bay windows are our specialty. The shutters are more thermodynamically efficient. Bay windows, by their nature, have a larger run of windowpanes, potentially letting more heat out. By installing bay window shutters you are creating an added barrier against heat loss and therefore providing a more efficient level of insulation. They also help provide a cooler living area during the summer months by blocking out the direct sun whilst allowing airflow through the operable louvres.
Bi Fold and Track System Shutters
Some interior windows and doorways are too large for regular wooden shutters. This is where Bi-Folding Shutters come into their own. They can open in two or more sections and are a great solution for hard to dress windows such as kitchen windows or French doors.
We also offer track system shutters. These provide the same effect but you are not restricted as to where your shutters can fold into position along the track, as the end panels are not hinged to the side of the frame. Track system shutters offer the same appeal as their Bi-Fold counterparts but instead of folding in a concertina fashion they actually are not hinged together but simply glide in front or behind each other, providing the required access.
Our Bi-Fold Shutters utilise hinges to fix multiple shutter panels together. These look fantastic when in-situ and should you wish to open your shutters, to access your window or patio door, each panel group will concertina together to the left or right. The width of each panel, when folded back, will protrude into your room and this is something that you and your surveyor will consider prior to installation.
Blackout Shutters (Room Darkening)
Helping you create a perfectly dark environment, whatever the time of day, room darkening shutters include an integrated blind that helps block out virtually all external light.
Perfect for bedrooms, as well as creating the ideal home cinema environment, the pocketed, honeycomb design of the blind captures air, insulating the windows, while the foil lining seals away the sunlight when they’re closed.
Taking control of style, light and privacy, the room darkening integrated shutter and blind system gives you two fantastic products in one, and hopefully a better night’s sleep!
Café Style
Café style shutters give you the best of both worlds. They allow maximum light into the room whilst adding privacy and of course style, they can be fitted alone or you can keep your curtains to add that extra bit more.
Full Height Plantation Shutters
Our most popular style, these are single full height panels that cover the whole window. It’s a simple yet elegant design that works on any window.
In many cases it’s a good idea to fit a mid-rail for practical and aesthetic reasons. A mid-rail helps strengthen a taller shutter, reducing the risk of warping. You can also incorporate a split louvre in any location, with separate tilt rods. This adds versatility, as the upper and lower slats can be opened independently, providing light according to your needs and privacy control exactly where you need it.
Depending on your personal preference, our full height shutters can be constructed from various woods and can be stained or painted to your specification.
Security Shutters
Security and style come together with these durable aluminium shutters, designed to provide both protection and a modern finish. Featuring patented Italian strip-proof locks that secure the shutters at the top and bottom with a single turn, they offer excellent security along with options for master or individual keys. Made from architectural-grade powder-coated aluminium, they are corrosion resistant, hard-wearing, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. With 89mm louvres, silent tilt operation for a clean, contemporary look, and a choice of hinged, bi-fold or by-pass styles, they are ideal for windows, patio doors, conservatories, or even room dividers. Overlapping stiles help reduce light gaps for improved privacy, while the durable finish is easy to maintain and designed to last for years.
Shaped Shutters
Shaped shutters can be designed to fit any size and shaped window.
So whether your window is circular, arched or angled, large or small, we can design special shaped window shutters to suit all.
Shaped shutters can help to highlight the eccentric architecture of your home and can be improved from the flexibility which is key with shutters, allowing varying degrees of privacy and light depending on how they are configured.
Tier on Tier
Tier-on-tier shutters are the most versatile option to choose from. They consist of two sets of shutters within one frame, on top of each other. This gives greater flexibility and allows a range of positions, as the two sets of shutters open and close independently. This enables privacy with flexibility you have the option to fold back the top half of the window whilst still being able to open or close the bottom shutter half.
Tier-on-tier window shutters give you the option of a full height look or a Café-Esque half open shutter style to preserve privacy. These are ideal for bedrooms, where privacy will be a priority. This style is very practical as the shutters allow sunlight in through the window’s top half whilst maintaining privacy with a closed bottom half.
Tier-on-tier shutters make a particularly stunning feature of bay windows, making them a popular choice in Victorian and Georgian homes.
I am extremely pleased with my new shutters and would highly recommend this company.
I was given straightforward information about the shutters and the fitting, the price was competitive and no pressure was put on me to make a purchase. The work was carried out efficiently and all of the packaging was removed from my house.
The shutters look fantastic. Many thanks Chris.
